I went into this movie with a lot of doubts because of all the chatter and mostly negative reviews it was getting. The buzz was loud but not exactly positive, so I wasn't expecting much. It was hard to ignore all the opinions saying it wasn't great, so I was ready to be let down.

But to my surprise, I started really enjoying it halfway through. This unexpected enjoyment was thanks to Gareth Edwards' amazing direction. I've always liked his work, and this movie reminded me why. His films like ROGUE ONE, which expanded the Star Wars universe, and his unique take on GODZILLA were impressive. His latest movie, THE CREATOR, just made me admire him even more. It was cool to see him bring a fresh perspective to this franchise, which has been a bit shaky lately.

Edwards has a knack for using the camera to show off the scale and majesty of his creatures. This movie is no different. The cinematography really captures the size of the dinosaurs in a way that makes you feel awe, just like the original films did. Working with David Koepp, the writer behind the original JURASSIC PARK, they managed to capture the same magic while also giving this film its own vibe.

The movie has some awesome set pieces.

There are thrilling scenes, like one with an inflatable raft that had me on the edge of my seat, and another that nods to the classic “they do move in herds” moment from the original. These scenes not only bring back nostalgia but also deliver the adventure that the last few movies were missing. Sure, there's some cheesy dialogue and characters making silly choices, but I found myself caring about several of them. Their stories kept me hooked for most of the film, which was a nice change from the flat characters we've seen recently.

As for where this franchise is headed, I'm not really sure. The world of cinematic universes is always changing, and while this movie has its strong points, I'm left wondering what's next. Still, I'm happy with this film. It beats both DOMINION and FALLEN KINGDOM, and I'd say it's on par with WORLD. This movie not only got me interested in the franchise again but also gave me hope for what it could achieve in the future.

3/5
